Browsing the Table of Contents
Browsing The Handbook of Chemistry and Physics
is done through the Table of Contents window
in the interface. The Table of Contents is based on
the Windows Explorer standard, which uses plus
signs to denote closed folders, and a minus
sign to denote an open folder.
When you click on the
sign on the Section 1 folder, for example, the subsections
of the folder are displayed:

Table of Contents
There are two types of information displayed : text,
which is displayed as a PDF using Acrobat Reader, and
interactive tables. Each subsection within a Section
folder contains either a single PDF, or both a Table
and its associated PDF. The different formats of data
are represented by two different icons: the PDF option
is represented by the
icon, the interactive table option is represented by
the
icon. You can view each type by clicking on the appropriate
icon.
When a Table exists, the PDF view of that subsection
repeats the data in the table but in addition gives
introductory material, explanation of the data fields,
and references. When the table is very long, only the
introduction is given in the PDF. When you choose an
item, it is displayed in the Search Results and Data
window of the interface.
Note: While the documents have been optimized
as much as possible to provide minimal download for
the quality of information, documents tend to be on
the large side. Please provide adequate time for download
of a document. Also note that you must have a subscription
to view documents or interactive tables or interactive
graphs.
